Ngahina Hohaia is a celebrated contemporary artist whose practice spans multimedia and multisensory installation, sculpture and weaving. Living in her ancestral community of Parihaka at the foot of Taranaki, she anchors her wide-ranging creative work in traditional knowledge and whakapapa, maintaining a deep connection to place. The impacts of colonisation in Aotearoa are regularly addressed by Ngahina, holding space for reclamation and (re)Indigenisation of place and mana wāhine knowledge forms.
Holding a Master of Māori Visual Arts from Massey University, Ngahina has been recognised with major honours, including the Arts Foundation Te Tumu Toi New Generation Award. Her artworks have been showcased across Aotearoa and on the international stage for more than two decades.

Tihei is led by renowned artist Rangi Kipa whose work is highly esteemed across Aotearoa. He is deeply involved in advancing Māori art, helping to revitalise and specialise in several traditional practices, including the unique Taranaki carving style. His practice in sculpture, carving and tā moko also extends into innovative co-design for public buildings and civic spaces.
Rangi’s artistic experience is woven by a life steeped in other traditional Māori knowledge forms such as taonga puoro, and short-hand weaponry carving. A master of many design languages, he draws his inspiration from his upbringing at Ngapuketurua Pā near Whaitara.
Rangi chairs Te Rūnanga Whakairo, the National Māori carver network supported by Toi Māori Aotearoa, and initiated the Whakakai Mentoring Programme to encourage wāhine Māori working in similar design areas. In 2021, he received the Arts Foundation Laureate Award for Ngā Toi Māori.
