Need a place to meet, study, perform or collaborate? Te Matapihi ki te Ao Nui offers a range of flexible spaces for learning, creativity and community use.
Open spaces. Across the building you’ll find open, flexible places to read, study, work or meet casually. Each space is designed to be welcoming and easy to use. Many spaces are free to use and don’t require booking. They’re designed to support different ways of being – quiet focus, shared learning, or relaxed conversation.
Choose the spot that suits how you like to work and feel free to move around as your needs change.

Booking details, availability, and enquiries are managed through our online booking system, Bookable (from 16 March).
Some spaces can be booked directly, while others are managed through an expression of interest process. You can book spaces online or at the Pae Manaaki | Manaaki Desk.

Food and break spaces
When you’re ready for a break, you’re welcome to bring your own food, or visit the café. There are spaces throughout the building for you to relax, reset, and refresh.

Eat and drink
Organise your event. Te Matapihi ki te Ao Nui offers bookable spaces designed to support public, cultural, creative, educational and community activities – such as meetings, hui and workshops.
If you’re planning something larger – such as an activation or community-led programme – get in touch to discuss what’s possible.
Bookings are managed in line with the building’s civic purpose and shared use principles to ensure the building remains welcoming and accessible for everyone.

Yes. Lockers are available on Ground, Level 1, and Level 2. If you need help accessing the lockers, please ask at a Pae Manaaki | Manaaki Desk.

There is no dedicated public parking attached to Te Matapihi ki te Ao Nui.
